Do's and Don'ts of business
The mark of an amateur..
Honestly "how you go about" building your business is what distinguishes not only your level of professionalism but also is a precursor for your level of success.
What not to do :
*The Old fashion way-Everybody is your prospect! Who cares about targeted marketing, We have what everybody wants and we will convince them of that whether they want it or not.
*Let some else do it for you- Just get them to the local hotel conference room tonight so some else can do a "hard sale" on them. This eliminates any credibility you may have had. What kind of professional are you if you can not present your program and answer someone's questions?
*"Ignorance on fire" people running around information dumping on family and friends or anyone with a pulse, about the greatest new business opportunity they have just found. This is a complete waist your time and effort in talking to un-interested un-qualified people, not to mention wasting their time also!!
*Smoke and Mirrors: I don't what it is all about but you have to come and hear it for yourself. If you are not honest and forthright with people they will run from you as fast as they can! People are not dumb they know when something smells fishy.
*It's all about me!! I have a great business opportunity for you, your an idiot if you don't join us. Nobody will just give away their time and money to someone who does not care about them! Selfishness- Self centered objectives will end you up with no friends, no success, and no business!
These methods of business are exactly why there is a negative stereotype on Network Marketing.
Are people are avoiding you..
Do you feel like people are avoiding your phone calls or even avoiding contact with you. Do you feel like people look at you like your a "used car salesman"? Do they blow you off and treat you like you don't know what your talking about?
Then you are probably right! By practicing unprofessional methods of doing business you will destroy your own credibility without even knowing it.
People would run from an armature nurse holding an needle just like they will run from an amateur at business who is wanting to shove a business opportunity down their throat whether they want it or not!
Things to Do:
Realized Not Everybody is your Customer..
Do you see Mortgage Brokers trying to get a room full of customers together to sign their loans all at the same time? NO
They do it with a tailored customized loan one customer at a time!
Do you see car salesman trying to sell cars to a room full of people at once? Absolutely not!
They work with one customer to find the right car for them one at a time.
The blinded mentality that "Everybody will want this" and "Everybody is a customer" is the true mark of an amateur!
Focus on one person at a time determine what they are wanting to accomplish and present a tailored a solution for them!
Be prepared to walk away..
Professionals will walk away from a sale if it is not a good fit for the customer or their business!
Professionals do not sell something to someone they do not need or want just because they can (I could sale ice to an eskimo).
True Professionals look for a win-win situation. Win for the customer and Win for the salesman.
Accept there is NO- One Size fits all in business..
What works for one doesn't work for all. What is a good fit for one will not be a good fit for the next guy.
Every person will be unique and will have very different wants and personalities that need flexibility in customizing a plan to fit them.
Some will like legal or financial services, some will be passionate about nutrition and wellness, Some will like new technology.
Some people work full time jobs, some part time you need to develop a plan that works for their schedule not yours.
Some people have thousands to throw into marketing some less than $100 a month, you need techniques and strategies that will work for whatever level they are at, not what level you are at.
Every one has different strengths and weaknesses and will have totally different needs in their training. You need a system that will help anyone no matter what skill level they are not your skill level.
Focus outwards..
If you provide personalized solutions and plans, if you focus on people and their wants and needs you will have a successful and thriving business. People will respond and gravitate to that kind of approach.
Start with yourself..
The law of attraction applies in business too! Your work begins with you! What you focus on will determine what you attract to your business. If you are thinking about you all of the time you will have you and yourself to work with. If you do business in a professional manner you will have other "professionals" to work with. If you focus on the positive you will have positive people to work with. If you are determined, motivated and work hard you will have those kinds of people to work with. If you have an open mind and are always looking for ways to grow and new things to learn you will have receptive eager people to work with.
Have a plan and system in place for people to follow..
It is not just about you figuring out being successful, it is also about helping others be successful. You can recruit until the sun goes down but if you can not get anybody else to duplicate that you will not have long term success! People will not stick around to figure it all out on their own. Do you have a S.O.P. (standard operating procedure) for your team to follow? Is it proven to be effective? Is it market tested? How successful is the person who designed the plan? How successful are their team members?
Be a Professional Student..
Business evolves and changes just like everything else does. If you do not stay on the curve of advances and changes you will become a dinosaur and become extinct. The majority of methods being taught are in-effective and outdated! We live in a technology age where information is readily available and at people's finger tips. You need to understand business processes and and peoples thought processes, you need know how to market. You need to be flexible and receptive to change, change is inevitable those who brace against it will get snapped off like a twig, those who embrace it become stronger and flourish.
Believe in yourself...
NO will build your business for you, not your upline or your downline, Only you can build your business. YOU are where it all begins! YOU are what determine the end results. Be confident in who you are and what your mission is, Believe in your abilities, Believe you deserve it. Manage your thoughts, because they reflect in your actions, and attract what is in your life, good or bad. Envision what success looks like for you.
Think outside the Box..
Don't be a like everybody else and follow the herd like a mindless drone, there is an epidemic raging in the Network Marketing industry "The Blind Leading the Blind"! There are so many poor ineffective methods being regurgitated over and over again from good intentioned but misinformed upline or sponsors to the next. This is a viscous cycle that needs to be stopped. This spreads the cancer of amateur skills that erodes the integrity of our industry and produces countless failures.
